Our Story
Lahing Makabayan began in 2010 as a small online group of young Filipinos united by Christian faith and a shared concern for our country. It was founded by Israel Macabuhay Cebrian, also known then as Datu Kayumanggi.

At the time, Israel observed a nation weighed down by corruption, weakened institutions, and a growing sense of hopelessness among its people. Many felt powerless. Many felt unheard. And slowly, dignity seemed to erode.
He asked a simple but heavy question:
What is missing?
He came to believe that beyond policy, beyond politics, beyond personalities, the deeper issue was this: love of country.
A nation does not decay because of powerful enemies. It decays when its own people become
indifferent. Love for country is the refusal to be indifferent.
Lahing Makabayan became a space for reflection, discussion, and conviction. But as years passed, life responsibilities took priority. Careers, families, migration, and personal battles pulled members in different directions. The group remained quiet.
Yet the desire never faded.
Fifteen years later, Israel reached out to the three remaining core members. The question was no longer theoretical.
Can we finally do something tangible for our country?
The answer was yes.
Instead of starting with grand declarations, we chose something simple and practical: Clean and Accessible Water for underserved communities.
Not because water is the final solution but because it restores dignity. It builds shared ownership. It unites people around something life-giving and sustainable.
Lahing Makabayan is being rebuilt slowly, intentionally, and quietly.

If this mission speaks to you, help us build the kind of country our children deserve.
